“Like a typical salesperson, I started my career in the field as an inside sales representative, reaching prospects, mostly over phone calls. I was working for one of CloudSEK’s sales channel partners that sold XVigil, which is how I got more acquainted with the young cybersecurity startup as well as their product.

I was quite impressed with Rahul’s backstory and his accomplishments, despite the obstacles he had to overcome. Also, I soon realized that the people and culture at CloudSEK are quite supportive to help foster a good professional life, maintaining a work-life balance. So, after a couple of rounds of discussions with Rahul, Sourabh, and Bhaskar, I joined CloudSEK on 17th December 2019. Which was the same day the management had held an annual meeting, to meet and greet fellow CloudSters. The day turned out to be a much-needed ice-breaker, setting a perfect backdrop to start my life as a CloudSter.

A career in sales is performance-driven and has tangible rewards, which is a key motivator for someone as competitive as me. My primary goal is to identify the customer’s needs and make an undeniable proposal, offering nothing short of first-class customer service. The process that I follow, on a daily basis, starts with planning and strategizing for multiple customer accounts and figuring out a game plan through discussions across various teams. Which is usually followed by customer calls, negotiations, closing deals, prospecting and evaluating potential customers and offering them an initial sales pitch.

Additionally, I make time to engage customers and partners on the changing market trends in technology, which allows me to gain a competitive advantage over rivals. To master the craft of sales, I believe that one needs experience and a determination to grow within the industry. Although having inherent interpersonal skills can be beneficial, such skills can also be obtained through continuous learning and development. And however challenging it may seem, a career in sales can also be very lucrative.

The “sales experience” is even better at CloudSEK, with a very supportive team that helps me deliver value to customers and fulfil customer requirements within committed deadlines. CloudSEK has shown great confidence in my capabilities, which has allowed me to advance in my career from a Business Development Manager to Account Director North, in just six months. This is what continues to drive a sales junkie like me while ensuring sustainable growth in the field. In my current role, I head new business acquisitions for XVigil, across North India.”
